This notice explains, in plain language, which rights are offered through this site and which are not. It does not replace a contract: any actual grant is agreed separately and in writing.
1. Who owns the work
The literary texts published on this site, novels, short stories, poems, décimas, essays and journalism, are the work of Antonio López Sánchez and belong to him. Reproduction in whole or in part, in any medium, requires his express written permission.
The design, the code and the systems that run this site belong to Index01, which built it. They are separate things and are licensed separately.
2. Scope of what is offered
The rights this site declares available are, solely and exclusively, those held by Antonio López Sánchez over his own work.
No rights belonging to any other author, illustrator, compiler, prologue writer, translator or publisher are offered, negotiated or handled here.
3. Collective volumes, anthologies and compilations
Several of the titles listed on this site are volumes shared with other authors, or compilations edited by third parties. In every one of those cases, without exception, the availability of rights refers only to the texts written by Antonio López Sánchez that the volume contains.
Never to the complete volume, nor to the contributions of the other authors, nor to the work of whoever compiled, edited or illustrated it.
The rights line on each of those book pages says exactly that. The titles concerned today are:
4. Territory
The published books hold editorial exclusivity with their publishers within Cuba. Rights for editions and translations in the rest of the world are available, with the scope described above.
5. Material that does not belong to the author
Not everything on this site belongs to him, and that matters, because it affects what can be licensed.
Lines by other poets. Some works carry other people's stanzas as an epigraph or as the basis of a glosa: José Martí, José Lezama Lima, Polito Ibáñez, Fito Páez, Noel Nicola and Santiago Feliú. They belong to their authors, are reproduced here identified and attributed, and fall outside any grant over the work that accompanies them.
Book covers. They are the work of their illustrators and designers, credited on each title's page, and are shown here only to identify each edition. Acquiring rights to a text does not carry the cover of the Cuban edition with it.
Photographs of launches, book fairs and events. They were taken by third parties and the rights belong to whoever took them. They are published with the author's consent. If someone recognises a photograph of theirs and wants credit or removal, a message is enough.
Radio and television recordings. They belong to their stations, producers and performers. They are kept here as the archive of a career, not as licensable material.
The sea photograph on the home page comes from Wikimedia Commons under a CC0 licence. The photographs accompanying the De-Cimitas and Sonata de la lluvia, on the other hand, are the author's own and are part of the work: the décima is born from the image.
