The Drawer Station
I don't know whether it happens to other writers too. But I write faster than I can publish. Sometimes, because of particular circumstances, a book takes five, ten or even twenty years to reach a publisher. Sometimes it is the author himself who decides that a story's destination is not yet in sight. And so those pages have to wait.
Even so, the hardest birth of any book is to be written at all: to spring up and settle into words. However brilliant, an idea in a writer's head does not exist until it comes to life on paper or, more in keeping with the times, in a digital file and on a screen. Everything written can be published some day. In the meantime, once the essential step of making a story tangible has been taken, those pages should not remain entirely in silence either.
So here are some excerpts, and the compasses and intentions of ideas that have already been born, that already have their foothold and their boat, but have not yet reached their final harbour in printed pages or in a digital algorithm. Knowing that the most important destination is the eyes reading these words right now, we offer a glimpse of a few scenes from journeys that are still waiting.
